This monument was erected to memorialize the life of 3 RCMP officers who on June 4th 2014 were gunned down by an individual bent on killing as many cops as he could. At the time, J division had not instituted their carbine program leaving patrol officers unprepared to counter the 5.56 nato and ..308/7.62 nato rounds being fired at them. Dispite being pinned down by overwhelming fire officers Larch, Ross and Gevaudan and wounding two others.

What a beautiful monument !!!! Belongs in a museum as the sculpture is phenomenal. It is a statement to Canadian Society and Culture that we create a monument like this for three officers. Some countries (you can think of which ones) where events that inspired this monument and other service deaths would barely get mention in the newspaper for a day as it is such a frequent occurrence.
